London's Best Beef Wellington

Is there anything better than a blushing fillet of beef smothered in pâtè and duxelles wrapped in buttery, flaky pastry? We don’t think so. There’s something special about Beef Wellington, so scroll down, salivate and head to one of the below to taste it for yourself.

Bob Bob Ricard

The Beef Wellington at Bob Bob Ricard is something to behold. The gigantean mound of perfectly puffed pastry is crispy on the outside with a soft, buttery inner layer - you know the kind that makes pastry amazing. If you, like us, enjoy beef rare, go with their suggestion for medium rare as it’s certainly pinker than expected but the pastry stays intact. Each mouthful was a sensational combination of flavour and textures, with the umami beef and salty pastry singing in harmony. Bravo, Bob Bob, you're our favourite in town.

The Savoy Grill

It’s clear why the Beef Wellington at Savoy Grill is a staple; the crispy outer layer of pastry is moreish and indulgent, while the beef within is red and tender. The portion is big - so go hungry - and comes served with a dollop of tangy horseradish cream and is softened by a drizzle of peaty, rich red wine jus.

Riding House Café

We love Riding House Café. Not only is it situated in the lovely Fitzrovia, but it also does great cocktails and grub. The perfect date spot, head here and tuck into their amazing Beef Wellington. The pastry is tasty - although not quite as good as the former two - but the cut of beef is unbelievably good. The umami flavour is powerful and is complemented beautifully by a slight sweetness in the pastry and the pungent taste of musk from the truffle oil, which gets drizzled on top.
